nananana... we've all got choices

we cant possibly know everything. but sometimes, we dont know some things. and in not knowing the wrong things, we do those very things that may lead to our plunge right down under, a place barren of hope but piled with mountains of regret.
as cliche as this sounds, this is for ur own good.
if you are unable to foresee the consequences of what you're taking on, incapable of thinking straight and thus seeing the crystal clear logic that lies just below that surface of murk that clouds ur vision, then let us guide you.
for no matter what happens, no matter the situation, time or place, the fact remains that u are my sister, and their daughter - and we never want to see you caught up in despair or be in the way of harm.
lean on our logic, count on our experience; at least until you attain them urself - then we will know that we've done our best to nuture u into the best condition for ur flight away from the nest.
understand that pleasure is not always a good thing - take drugs, for a marginally extreme but workable example: the high from taking drugs must feel how freakin good, but we all know that drugs ultimately ruin u. at the same time, understand that pain is not always a bad thing... surgery, mad-mugging, and so on actually opens doors to opportunity and potential later on. think abt it: just how far are u willing to go?

i heard Runaway Love (Ludacris feat Mary J. Blige) on 987 for the first time. take a listen! it's quite nice. the musicality complements the lyrics very well so by skimming the verses here u'r only letting urself hv half the deal.

[Verse 1 - Ludacris]
Now little lisa is only 9 years old
Shes tryin to figure out why the world is so cold
Why shes all all alone and they never met her family
Mamas always gone and she never met her daddy
Part of her is missin and nobody will listen

Mama is on drugs gettin high up in the kitchen
Bringin home men at different hours of the night
Startin with laughs--usually endin in a fight
Sneak into her room while her mamas knocked out
Tryin to have his way and little lisa says 'ouch'
She tries to resist but then all he does is beat her
Tries to tell her mom but her mama don't believe her
Lisa is stuck up in the world on her own
Forced to think that hell is a place called home
Nothin else to do but some get some clothes and pack
She says shes bout to run away and never come back.

[Hook - Mary J. Blige]
Runaway love [x8]

[Verse 2 - Ludacris]
Little nicole is only 10 years old
Shes steady tryin to figure why the world is so cold
Why shes not pretty and nobody seems to like her
Alcoholic step dad always wanna strike her
Yells and abuses, leaves her with some bruises
Teachers ask questions she makin up excuses
Bleedin on the inside, cryin on the out

Its only one girl really knows what she about
Her name is lil stacy and they become friends
Promise that they always be tight til the end
Until one day lil stacy gets shot
A drive by bullet went stray up on her block
Now nicole stuck up in the world on her own
Forced to think that hell is a place called home
Nothin else to do but some get some clothes and pack
She says shes bout to run away and never come back.

[Hook - Mary J. Blige]
Runaway love [x8]

[Verse 3 - Ludacris]
Little erica is eleven years old
Shes steady tryin to figure why the world is so cold
So she pops x to get rid of all the pain
Cause shes havin sex with a boy whos sixteen
Emotions run deep and she thinks shes in love
So theres no protection hes usin no glove
Never thinkin bout the consequences of her actions
Livin for today and not tomorrows satisfaction

The days go by and her belly gets big
The father bails out he aint ready for a kid
Knowin her mama will blow it all outta proportion
Plus she lives poor so no money for abortion
Erica is stuck up in the world on her own
Forced to think that hell is a place called home
Nothin else to do but get her clothes and pack
She say shes about to run away and never come back.

one of my first evaluative thought upon hearing this song was 'how Americanised'. until i backtracked a bit and it hit me tt already the 3rd verse is happening at an increasing rate to a younger and younger batch of girls each year - if left alone, could the other parts become a nightmarish reality as well? gosh i hope not. it is no understatement that 'family is the fundamental and most important unit of society'.
