mfa intvw

the journey would have taken half an hour. i gave it 45mins. apparently i need to do better, esp. when i don't know the exact location of the place. to my delight (-..-) i found out, with 15mins to go and after some wandering about in the rain in heels and no umbrella (i brought my jacket instead; didn't think the rain would get heavier but whatdyaknow), that the venue is up a winding road and hill not really meant for pedestrian access as i discovered no pathway and instead walked on/along/UP the road. in those few mins or so, basking in this country's (in)famous humidity, i wished i had the luxury of a cab-calling habit. as it is i rarely take cabs, much less alone; i keep thinking of the opportunity cost!

i got past the guard post - friendly officer: "good luck ma'm!" (: and in to the building where 2 jokers standing in as reception desk handlers cheerfully asked me to sign on the list: "you're the first to arrive!"; mine was the final signature (-..- again). by some stroke of gd luck the interviewers hadn't yet arrived, so i took my place in the circle of silent fellow interviewees. the atmosphere in the next 10mins or so was like a prolonged elevator-riding session where strangers are packed together in a closed space and everyone glances about - up, down, left, right - and fiddles a bit without ever making eye contact with another person.

then they came in. our interviewers. luckily after a round of introductions there was no more individual / personal questions, and they did it discussion topics - style. imagine my utter relief! talking about things other than myself, i so can do. other than 1 boo-boo i made (predictably enough it was in the introductions part hurhur), it went okay. but the competition by numbers is pretty tough so i guess that's that and i finally did okay in an interview, ie. not want to beat myself up about it afterwards. though it's a bit like cheating since it wasn't a one-to-one or one-to-panel, but well maybe that time will come.
