this is my regular run-through-of-mods entry that comes round almost every sem. feel free to be bored and ignore!
China's Foreign Policy
1 of first 2 level 4 mods i'm taking this sem, it looks set to be pretty straight forward in content but with a higher expected quality of work which hopefully i can handle. got a bit of a shock at the 1st class due both to the fact that everyone else seemed to know one another and to the round-the-table seminar style for this class, because my only other experience in such a classroom setting at NUS was the MOST intense mod that i've taken here. but this one got better. instructor is relatively new and tends to speak a little lecture style, which gets me reaching for the caffeine. 3 hours is no joke.
European Foreign Policy
other level 4 mod. either the only year 3 in class or 1 of 2. got called out and identified in the 1st session, so that was quite embarrassing. the content looks pretty straight forward too, though we're expected to look at more (in terms of content and types) resources, which i'm kinda looking forward to (HAH so i say now while i'm still feeling free :P). there's a seminar-leading section which is also brand new for me, but i have a few weeks to see how it's done 1st, so hopefully i don't get a bad shock. once again, 3 hours is no joke.
Politics of the Body
My back-up Advanced mod. Was going to take a LKYSPP level 5 (grad) mod, but results for that application was released only in week 2 of school.. and (shamefully ><) i am too lazy to coordinate travel to and fro the bukit timah campus, so i decided to stick to this one, conveniently located in a USP seminar room (bad bad reason, elysa). Feel a tinge of regret that I'm not taking Singapore's development BUT i hope i'm making the right choice. Anyway, this mod is my dose of philo for this sem. It's intriguing and abstract and quite challenging to grasp - how exciting! <- nerd
Singapore: Making of a Nation
Taking this for my SS requirement. Quite sad to be taking it essentially alone, since it's the type of clear-requirements mod people usually use as an opportunity to take mod together. Oh well less coordination for me I guess. The mod hasn't been particularly stimulating (surprise surprise) for me and it's my earliest-in-the-morning mod, but I will make the effort (in fact i've been arriving early, uconn style (: ) and make it worthwhile.
Conflict Resolution: Negotiation and Mediation
Module conducted workshop-style over the first 3 weekends (yes this is my infamous 830am to 530pm on saturday and sunday mod). The main motivating factor is that classes for the sem end after 3 weeks of school! Though we still have deliverables and the project due after that, STILL. Besides, the mod has actually been quite fun and laid-back and hopefully i'll pick up a couple of practical pointers from it.
