another day in nerd land

Nerd alert.

Good school day today. Reminded me why I enjoy being a student and of my early onset desire to postpone entering the workforce as far into the distance as I possibly can.

For today to be meaningful I need to begin last night. Returned from training and dee-dee-da-da-ed till about 11pm. Then, dee-dee-da-da-ed on FB, Twitter, Gmail sending not-particularly-high-priority emails. Then, set my high score on Fruit Ninja. And played some Coin Dozer. And a little bit of Cookie Dozer. And maybe some Lunar New Year-themed coin dozer too. Then watched a couple of youtube videos.. Chit chatted on MSN, got freaked by a yellow-black beetle slash bee-w/o-a-sting, left room door open for a while and took a walk with neighbor ST.

... All this while I have a full 10-6 day tomorrow including an individual seminar presentation ( =S ) and a philo-ish (ie. more difficult than average) reading to do.

Decided to call it a day (HAHA!) and go to sleep, planned to wake up early the next day and do what i can before the 10am class. Alarm clock rang for 30mins in the morning but because I set the alarm on iTouch instead of Nokia, my brain wasn't yet attuned to the new ringtone. So the last few mins. of my sleep was agitated by a dream of myself trying to find and shut off the incessant ringing sound which I couldn't locate (in my dream). Plus, the ringing might've annoyed Hien who had successfully woken up early to do work. Good job.

Anw so I finally woke up, realized it was the iTouch creating the noise and got out to get some work done. Evidential enough to the idea that I'm most productive under pressure, I actually used the 1 hour window before class to finish doing up the presentation.

1st lesson was Singapore Studies. Not much was new in terms of content, but the emphasis on more interesting approaches to looking at the phenomenon of Sg's economic success (topic of the week) was quite refreshing. Munched on breakfast while in class.

1 hour break-for-the-day spent solo-lunching (as usual on Tuesdays) at the Deck. This usually includes people-watching, but today was rush rush rush to get it done and head elsewhere to do the philo reading. Funny thing is that whenever I'm alone, I find a 4-seater table easily enough.. But when I'm actually looking for a 4-seater table for 4 persons, none presents itself.

2nd lesson was the presentation. It actually went okay. BIG sigh of relief. Now, if only I would participate in class discussions too. >< My laptop strangely stopped being able to connect to wireless networks, so I spent most of the seminar actually paying attention (apart from the momentary lapses when I was spying on a classmate's laptop screen or thinking about slicing fruits or dozing coins <- this i actually did for a while).

3rd lesson = philo. As has been the case for every philo or philo-ish lesson i have had, it felt kinda like my brain was being prodded and massaged, leaving it feeling manhandled yet... satisfied? There's almost always something new to learn in a philo class. How wonderful is that? Received a push notification from Straits Times on iTouch nearing the end of class: "Bless me iPhone for i have sinned" <- ?!?!. (ohh found out from just consulting Google that it's a new app aimed for Catholics). Showed the message to classmate. We ?!?!-ed together.

Back to room, laundry time. It's raining now. Bah.
