First day in Cinnamon RC, UTown
Not only does everything look new, it smells new too. The woody smell of new furniture - my desk, bookcase and especially closet - and stiffness of brand new upholstery in the lounge. Very clean fresh-looking walls right down to the edges where the lengths of the wall meet. Shiny, completely scratch-free surfaces and even plastic-covered ones. My room is very cosy (too cosy? we shall soon see) and I'm thrilled to be in a single where my mess prevails. The student lounge is quite perfect for a small gathering, by the way. Carpeted, air-conditioned, with sofas, chairs, a table, side-tables and multi-purpose surfaces you can sit on or put your cups at. There's a hole in the cabinet that looks like they'll be fitting a TV in too.
Had dinner at the dining hall, which was full of groups of kids in matching colored t-shirts (good ol OGs). A sign informed that the meal plan isn't meant to be buffet-style, but I don't know how strictly that's adhered to. Operation figure out how to bring friends has commenced. Note to self: Check out what the computer shows when we tap our cards on the reader (ie. check if the face appears). There were no sugary/creamy delights aka junk food as far as I could see, but I didn't linger long in the servery - headed to the end where the Muslim food is. The staff here basically ignored the how-many-dishes-per-person 'rule'; the rice is self-help and I received a helping of every dish on display yipee (one heavy plate me got). Looking forward to 5am tomorrow to find out what's in store for the pre-dawn meal they're serving throughout Ramadhan!
Transportation info. for future visitors: Internal shuttle service D has been split into D1 and D2. Both run through UTown; haven't figured directions out yet. In fact, haven't found bus stop yet either haha #hopeless
