failed mindef recruitment tea session

The plan was to go for the mindef recruitment tea session this afternoon.

I wanted to go because:
1. mindef has so much $$$ (see: Sg's incredible defense spending, iPad for soldiers, Hilton hotel venue for 4-day-long recruitment drive for ONE division) anyway so why not have a share of the spoils right? i'm sure there'll be eclair... &
2. SID is practically ungoogle-able and available net-rumor on it revolves around topics like the ISA. Figured it would have been a unique experience sitting in an auditorium wondering if the dude seated next to me is a spy (a la johnny english? hope not.)

And yet... As with many of even the most well-intended plans, mine turned out to have a serious flaw in it - no contingency plan for if it starts pouring outside.

How it went down: I dragged myself away from tumblr, picked out my outfit and even made the effort to smear gunk on my face. As i shut down my laptop (after looking at one last tumblr post) and collect up my phone / access card / purse, an ominous rumbling sound outside had me looking up to the window. Pulling open the blinds reveals dark grey clouds which burst open while i'm just standing there staring out as a sinking feeling develops in my gut that hilton ain't happenin today sista.

It ain't. What's a girl to do but chronicle yet another thing-i've-failed-to-do
