The last year of my undergrad life has been in session for about a week now!
In some ways it's just another "back to school" period;
- sleeping pattern re-adjustments according to timings of modules
- horizon-gazing at the numerous deadlines of various assignments
- wondering which mods I'll enjoy / ace / flunk (or some combi of this)
- bumping into people along corridors / at bus stops
- most meals alone (an under-rated joy imho. or just me being my anti-social self)
On the other hand...
- doing ISM is new. I wish I'd been inclined to try this out earlier; more "practice" for HT next sem, and I'm liking its DIY-ness and flexibility of schedule (so far :P)
- peer mentoring 7 impressionable young 'uns. basically I've had an at times unnervingly confusing journey as a USP/FASS student, bad enough that I wouldn't wish it on others, so as Prof Ryan said imma be the "big kid now, helping the little kids" in the little way I can
- part-timing on no-lessons days, which is essentially an extension of my stint at IE during the 3-month break. I like working there, and hope I continue to!
- my climbing is the main victim of the additional shenanigans this sem. And bumping into climbers been making me miss trainings including (or especially?) the nonsense that inevitably goes on then
- UTown is in and OKR is out. Though I know I don't have many supporters in this, I do miss OKR. Have always appreciated, even enjoyed, the kampung/chalet run-down feel of the place more than most of its inhabitants. But the damn faulty washing machines / dryers I'd have to agree were frustrating sometimes. Still, I guess more than that OKR holds a store of memories. Living around and with the climbers, shouting across the blocks, waking each other up for some morning comp registration or mock comp, unceremoniously barging in on neighbors, knowing that somewhere nearby there's someone to talk to (: It all feels so distant now, like it happen in a whole other time. And I guess in a way it did, esp. now that most have graduated and I'm not down at the gym so much.
- Scootering has claimed a bit of skin off my foot (accidentally scratched it somehow, but hey you can get that walking into your cupboard / table leg / bed post too right?), but other than that it's been fun whizzing around (UTown, mainly) on wheels trying to ignore the stares and nudges that i guess inevitably accompanies such unbecoming behavior on a university campus (:
