cinammon river

Letter to my RA:

Hello xxxxx

So rainwater entered my room during the last heavy rain session (Tuesday morning). This hasn't happened before - usually the rainwater is collected and remains on the corridor so that I walk out into a pool of water. Unfortunately yesterday the pool of water decided to visit my room instead of considerately and politely stay outside, uninvited. It wasn't a terrible lot of water and I managed to get electrical stuff off the floor before they got wet but I thought I should let someone know.

I think it might be cos the rubber stoppers installed in the doors nearer to the opening where the rains come in from are now channeling the water downwards so that it's displaced into rooms further "downstream" of Cinnamon River, including mine.

It feels a little like the problem's been shifted instead of solved (drain holes a la HDB flats?). But I know that it's a structural thing and it's not a simple matter to make drain holes appear on the floors, so whatever measures that have been thought up to alleviate the problem and might be applicable for preventing my room from future rainwater invasions would be much appreciated.

Thank you
