Encountering-religion-day
One, tomorrow marks the start of Muharram, which is the 1st month on the Islamic calendar! I found this out thanks to friends' facebook statuses and also found out (thanks to wikipedia this time) that it's traditional to fast on the 10th of Muharram (+ one day before / after) to mark Nabi Musa (Moses)'s victory over the pharaoh of Egypt at that time. First thing that came to mind was Whitney/Mariah's duet in Prince of Egypt. Then (more appropriately) I realized why my relatives were always fasting on 'sepuluh Muharram' (10th of Muharram). Why wasn't I invited? Pfft! Never mind, I think I'll join the party this year. Tuesday, 6 December + 5 or 7 :)
Secondly, and I think this is the first time it's happened to me though you hear about it enough. Someone came up to me during my walk back from Cheers enjoying how the air feels and the sky looks when it's just rained but it's really sunny, and asked 'have you read the bible?'. Except for the intrusion into my wandering mind which was lazily contemplating puddles on the floor (skip over or 'wade' through?) and some intrusion into personal space (too close, friend) she was really nice. I just felt a bit bad for making her walk up those stairs she'd just been coming down from. And amused that she thinks I don't believe in God. I mean come on, God rocks.
