ended up at the same table as stranded Fritzie, who'd just come in to CT from NYC and Yale summer school and was lacking on-campus accoms cos of a mistake which had her name on the spring semester list instead of fall. Anw, it was one of those cases of fast friends (i guess Fritzie might make fast friends all the time since she's so friendly but this doesn't come by often for me so.) and we chatted through the talks (by "chatted" of cos i mean "quietly and attentively gave our full attention to the speakers"). in the end she came by to stay in my room for the night cos the off-campus nus students she'd bunked in with the prev. night (did i mention she's stranded) have limited beds at their house. nice to have company, and the wireless internet magically got connected in my room last night, so hurray for that! she's going to stay with another friend (well a friend of a friend) tonight, then back to NYC to pick up her luggage (yep she came over to UConn w/o her luggage) and going to D.C. too. happening much?
2nd day of orientation - we were late (not my fault. really.) but not really cos the talks started late. lunch at the student union food court (not me, i'm fasting, but the rest) then we had a free tasting at the dairy bar where there's a barn and all and they make ice cream from scratch! the ice cream looked delicious and the scoops were humongous and it was free and i was fasting. GREAT! can't wait to try some myself (:
the UConn campus physical landscape's mainly red bricks and greenery, and it gets hilly sometimes like on the way up to my residence. but the weather's cooling (together with splattery-type rain...) so i like it better than the hot humid sunny alternative i guess! it got a bit warmer today though, so that was nice.
